Perl??? I guess… Some programmers have gotten their start here, and I don't see why you couldn't start here.

This could be a good beginners language

I've programmed a few things in Perl a few years ago in the earlier days of the internet, even taught it for a bit, and depending on your programming environment it could be a good choice.
